Whether you like it or not, our home has full of smells, germs, and dirt. So we buy strong harmful chemical products as a solution. Not only that, but also it has an awful smell, and not good for our health. However, utilizing essential oils can resolve this kind of household problems. Tea tree and lavender oils are considered to be highly effective anti-bacterial essential oils. A few drops of either can be added to water to rinse any area you want to disinfect.
Ways to Use Essential Oils at home
There are a lot of ways to use essential oils in the comfort of your home. These include sinks, countertops, and bathrooms. One of my favorite ways is by using it as an antiseptic spray. I just diluted it with distilled water and put it in a pump spray bottle and voila! It's now ready to use. All you have to do is spray it around your bathroom, kitchen, and bedroom. I’d like spraying it on my bed particularly to disinfect the bedsheet and pillows.
Don’t use chemical spray anymore...
Sometimes you no longer need a chemical-based spray cleaner. All you need is an essential oil and a room diffuser to make your room fresher and have a natural smell. I highly recommend the doTERRA introductory kit as a good starter for your essential oil needs.
Essential Oil as a room cleaner
In the case of using a room cleaner, I have tips for you. If you do regular cleaning like making your bedroom fresher and pleasant to smell. For example, after mopping the flooring of your room you can add 4 drops of essential oils like pine, lavender, wintergreen, rosemary, orange, or any others you like on the water. Then, simply rinse the area with this after you have cleaned. I used a mop as my final touch. If you prefer a mosquito repellent I suggest you use citronella oil.
Make your room smell fresh and sweet
If you want to make your room or home to smell fresh and sweet, use a room diffuser and put a few drops of your favorite essential oil into it. I suggest using doTERRA room diffuser as it is more portable and convenient. You can adjust the smoke that comes out according to your needs. Also, you have to keep on using it day and night while enjoying the scent that permeates the whole house.
A few drops as your homemade carpet cleaner
Here are the easy steps:
- Use any of your combination of essential oils (recommended: rosewood oil, eucalyptus oil, and lavender oil.
- Mix a few drops of essential oil to baking soda.
- Sprinkle the mixture on the carpet and vacuum fifteen minutes later.
Moreover, lemons and orange are very excellent for cleaning. So if you have essential oils of lemon and orange, you can mix them with some hot water and soap. You will have the same thing-minus any chemicals.
Other things to do with essential oils:
- Tea tree essential oil helps to get rid of mold in the household.
- Lemon oil can be used as a disinfectant.
- Eucalyptus oil can be added to the laundry when you are washing bedding. This will help to control dust mites.
As shown above, essential oils are very beneficial in the household. They will make your home clean and smells really good. The more you get used to it, the more you will enjoy the benefits of it. Not only for your well being but more practical and aesthetic.
